Life Tech Lab Tours Thursday 3.10.

Plätty is organizing a Life Tech laboratories tour this Thursday!
Join one or more of the open tours to learn about the research in the field of Life Science Technologies and to see the multi-million research equipment and the facilities housing them in Otaniemi.
Join a tour to find your potential future thesis position, or to learn about a new field you’d otherwise never cross paths with.

Please note that there is a limited number of spots on each tour, and that some of the time slots might be cancelled due to lack of participants. In this case the participants will be informed via e-mail.

List of Groups and links to the sign-ups.

Brain Imaging / MEG-MRI

We develop techniques and instrumentation for ultra-low-field MRI and its combination with MEG. The group has built the world’s first prototype of a whole-head hybrid MEG-MRI brain scanner.

Aalto Behavioral Laboratory

Aalto Behavioral Laboratory (ABL) has various different monitoring and stimulus systems for behavioral studies in controlled environment. In ABL you can measure among other things with EEG, EMG, ECG, GSR, Accelerometers, Thermal camera and Eye Trackers.

Microsystems Technology

Research of the group is focused on understanding the detailed material properties of the various carbon based hybrid nanomaterials, their electrochemical properties as well as their interaction with other materials and biological environment when integrated together.

Medical Electronics (3 Groups)

The following three groups will present their activities on biomedical sensing, imagining, stimulation, rehabilitation, and robotics:

The KEPACO group develops machine learning methods, models and tools for data science, in particular computational metabolomics. Applications of interest include metabolomics, biomedicine, pharmacology and synthetic biology.

Advanced Magnetic Imaging Centre

AMI Centre is a part of Aalto Neuroimaging Infrastructure facilitating MRI and fMRI measurements. AMI Centre maintains a research-dedicated 3T-MRI scanner, develops and maintains the related infrastructure. In addition, AMI Centre develops new methods and applications of MRI technology.

Molecular Nanoengineering

The Molecular Nanoengineering operates at the interface between nanoscience, molecular self-assembly, DNA nanotechnology and nanoplasmonics with particular focus on DNA-based artificial molecular systems with functionalities tailored for biosensing, nanoplasmonics and biomimetics.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

The transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) group at NBE develops new technology, methods, and applications for brain stimulation. We have developed the world’s first multi-locus TMS device.

Medical Ultrasonics (MEDUSA)

Sound provides unconventional means to manipulate human tissue on microscopic and macroscopic levels. When intended, ultrasonic exposures generating sonic force fields can be applied from a distance, e.g. through the skin, in a non-destructive manner. The goal of MEDUSA is to discover and develop new platform technologies exploiting non-linear ultrasonics for conducting therapeutic or diagnostic tasks. A strong incentive exists to translate these research technologies to the clinic. Our recent research interests include e.g. ultrasonic drug delivery for osteoarthritis therapy and ultrasound-enhanced cancer diagnostics.

Timetable for the tours

Ura- ja kesätyöilta/Summer job and career evening 17.1.

Esittelyjen kieli on pääosin englanti.

Tapahtumassa on tarjolla plättymäiseen tapaan pientä purtavaa!
